Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts that like hiking, biking, and other activities that can easily take you away from phone service or medical care.
It is also used when disasters can significantly delay emergency medical services (EMS) response times.
WFA enhances your existing knowledge by teaching you what small, lightweight items you can add to your pack and how to use other resources available to create what you need to handle an emergency.
Along with advanced methods of bleeding control, you will learn how:
First Aid focuses on temporary care of emergency situations, with short medical response times, minor wound care, and severe bleeding.
WFA focuses on the long-term care of injuries and illnesses (typically 45 minutes or more) until you can get more advanced medical care.
This is a First Aid only class and teaches techniques that you will normally use only in advanced level care of an injured patient with a delayed response time before medical help is available. Therefore, it is encouraged that this be an additional class above Basic First Aid and CPR.
